Emmett Cullen
Somebody's got to be the guy around here to keep things interesting. And I don't mean interesting in the running off to Seattle to check out the latest newbies causing havoc for all of us. Someone has to keep it light and, I don't know, fun around here to make all of the rest not so hard to deal with some of the time. It's never anything big, just something stupid to give everyone a laugh at the most random times. I know when to keep it at bay, though, so it's not as is if I'm trying to cause trouble all of the time.

Usually my partner in crime is Jasper. Rosalie isn't the kind to help me come up with any schemes, but I know she enjoys it when it happens. Alice probably sees it coming, but she's game enough to let us see it all through. Then again, we've tried to get better about always changing our minds here and there to keep her on her toes so she doesn't see it every single time. It's a lot harder than it seems.

What helps is that Jasper has the ability to control and sense emotions. If I happen to get a look on my face and feel a certain way, he's a little more apt to understanding what I've got in mind. We'll pull of a stunt, everyone gets a laugh, and we go about our business. Just something to keep things interesting.

Only, I have to wonder sometimes with the Pinky and the Brain comparison. Which of us is which?

I, unlike many of my brothers and sisters, don't have one of the abilities that set me apart from the rest of my kind. Edward is able to read the minds of others, Alice has her visions, and Jasper is able to influence the moods of those around him. Some could argue that Carlisle's gift for being basically immune to the scent of human blood is a gift. I'd call it one. The others have one too, I guess. You can't be in a room with Esme and not be able to sense how much she cares about you. And Rose.. well, heh. Rose has unnatural beauty even compared to the rest of us.

Me? Well, I guess I do have one in some way. Not like Alice, Jasper, or Edward, but I can sure rip apart a huge grizzly bear with my bare hands without breaking a sweat. They're the most fun to go after and hunt. They put up a pretty good fight. Every one of them. Plus, there's that thing where I have a little bit of a grudge against bears since they were the reason I almost died in the woods until Rosalie found me.

More strength even for us I guess would be my superpower. Carlisle says he thinks we bring our natural abilities as changed vampires from our human lives. Makes sense when you look at all of us and how we had been as humans.

As a rule, we don't have any secrets in our family for a lot of different reasons. It's for our protection but also because those like Edward and Alice can pretty much either hear or predict what we're going to do before we actually do it. If I could have another type of superpower, I think I'd pick Edward's mind-reading. Bet he'd get pretty frustrated when the tables were turned, wouldn't ya there, brother?

I guess technically you could consider my family to be by blood even though we all come from all over. We come from different worlds, ages, cities, but all have one thing in common that brings us together. Blood. Yeah, there's something in our blood but that's not the real reason blood ties us together. We live off of it. We're vampires.

Maybe, in some ways, we didn't choose the family we have now but we all chose to stay. Most of us left at one point or another to go off by ourselves, but we always came back. Maybe it was everything that Carlisle showed us really did sink in and we were just trying to show how big and bad of vampires we could be, but it wasn't just the blood that I came back for. My family was with Carlisle. Carlisle and Esme and of course with Rosalie. The rest of them too. They're not so bad most of the time.

It's not just the fact that all of us choose not to feed from humans. We're a family. A complicated and kind of put together in not exactly the most traditional of ways, but a family is a family. Plus, we might as well get used to each other because we're stuck with each other for eternity right? Yeah, maybe, but I wouldn't chose to be with anyone else.

Being a vampire hasn't always been as hard for me as it has for some in my family. Sure, I did the rebellion thing like most everyone did and went against Carlisle and his vegetarian rules for a while, but I never was bitter about actually becoming a vampire. I was just a guy who would have been killed if not for what happened. Plus, I never would have met Rose and I'm thankful for that every day.

I live with my family, the Cullens, and we're not your average vampires. Unlike the rest of our kind, we don't feed off of humans. See, we're vegetarians. Right now we live in a nowhere town in Washington not far from Seattle. In fact, these days, I'm thinking we're a little too close to Seattle. Or a little too close to the slaughters going on there.

It was supposed to be an easy in and out trip. We were going to see what was going on in the city, kill a few newbies if we could, and then get the hell out. We were ready to have at it, but it wasn't supposed to end up like it did. We weren't expecting to be ambushed. If not for Jasper's knowledge on fighting the new vampires, we probably wouldn't have made it. He was more torn up than I was and somehow I managed to sling him over my shoulder and get us back to the hotel. Thanks to Alice, everyone else was already on their way, but I called Carlisle to let him know what happened and then passed out on the bed.

When I came to, Jasper was in the bed next to mine and Rosalie was there holding my hand looking as beautiful as ever even with that worried look on her face. Jasper was awake for the moment and I could hear him talking to Esme and Alice. Rose was sitting next to me while Carlisle did what he could to fix me up. We usually healed easy enough, but we were so ripped up that it would take a while this time.

"How's Jasper?" I asked Carlisle, trying to sit up enough to see my brother. He pushed me gently back down on the bed and said he was going to be fine, but that we both needed to rest. Just then the door opened and I looked up to see my other brother bust through the door. The prodigal brother finally makes it back and I'm stuck in bed. I grinned up at Edward when he came more into the room, asking how we were. I ignored him.

"Long time no see, brother."

For Emmett, he was in love with the girl he'd spend the rest of his immortality with from the moment he saw her. Some could say it was even before that. When he was twenty, Emmett was attacked by a bear and was nearly killed. If not for the girl who carried him across over one hundred miles to save him, he would have never made it. He barely remembers anything during that time, but he remembers the glimpses he had a girl so beautiful that if he weren't almost dying, she would have taken his breath away.

Rosalie Hale saved him that day and took him to her father so save him forever. Emmett was changed into a vampire and once the pain was gone, he never questioned the way he felt for Rosalie. The fact that he was a vampire now never angered him. Why should he hate the people who rescued him from death. They gave him life again.

It's been decades since that day and Emmett never has wanted anyone but his Rose. She's more beautiful than any other being, dead or alive, that he'd ever seen and has yet to see. Sometimes when they go to new places, he and Rose go off by themselves as a married couple instead of staying with the rest of the family.

She saved him that day and Emmett has never looked back.
